Yuzu and Hibiscus Tea Mocktail Recipe

Yuzu and Hibiscus Tea Mocktail Recipe

Sachiko Murata |

Here is another nice drink with dried yuzu peel ,continuing on from the previous article.

Yuzu, sometimes called Japanese citron in English, is a type of citrus fruit that is used in many ways in Japanese cuisine. It tastes like a mixture of a tangy lemon, bitter grapefruit and sweet orange. The tangy taste and the refreshing aroma add an accent to dishes.

For this recipe, dried yuzu peel is blended with hibiscus tea (dried roselle flower).

Hibiscus tea is a herbal tea with a ruby-red color made from dried roselle flower, which has a tart and cranberry-like flavor. Someone might not like it as it is astringent and bitter in taste, but if you add yuzu in it, the citrus flavor from yuzu makes the taste milder and adds a more refreshing flavor.

Both yuzu and hibiscus tea are rich in vitamins and citric acid, and so, it will be a perfect drink for summer.

You can enjoy the blended tea as it is or with honey, but if you add apple juice into it, it will turn into a delicious and beautiful summer mocktail!  The sweet flavor in apple juice makes the blended tea even more delicious.
